Rising Tide UK (1) has joined the growing list of partners to Alive Earth (2), a grassroots musical alternative to the Live Earth project.

Sam Chase from Rising Tide said: ‘The fatal flaw at the heart of Live Earth is the same as that at the heart of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’: it acknowledges the gravity of the crisis, but then goes into overdrive to convince us that electric cars, the convenient lie that is carbon offsetting and privatised technology can get us through it. Once again, an amazing opportunity to stimulate real social and climatic change has been squandered.’

CAMP FOR CLIMATE ACTION 14TH-21ST AUGUST 2007 : LONDON NEIGHBOURHOOD

Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 06/22/2007 - 14:22

Last year 800+ people descended on a field near Drax power station and built a
sustainable camp without the help of John Inman (although he would have been there
if able)! This was a base for 2 weeks of direct action, workshops and skillsharing
on climate change.

The camp was organised on a completely non-hierarchical basis with a series of
geographical "neighbourhoods" each providing their own kitchen, structures and
decision making bodies.

Climateologists answer to Plane Stupids short haul callout

At about midday, members of London Rising Tide (in support of the 'Plane Stupid' short haul callout) entered the CAA building (in Kingsway London WC2), and asked to see their Chairman Sir Roy McNulty to present him with a copy of the Tyndall Centre report on aviation and climate change.

Three grassroots professors of Climatology: Herb Garrett from Proper Climatology Innit Inc, Winston O'Boogie from Whither Science Bona Fide, and Wolfgang Lumpenback from Klimate Kaos Kosher, persuaded his PA to accept the science report and she promised to reply in writing to London Rising Tide.

First Norwich Rising Tide Action Against the NDR

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 05/06/2007 - 00:35

NRT Spoof action - Build the NDR: Concrete is freedom!

NDR demoPosing as members of the fictional Coalition for Roads And Progress (C.R.A.P), and brandishing placards bearing slogans such as ‘Re-tarmac the streets!', ‘Oil is Good for the Planet’, ‘The NDR – an industrial paradise’ and ‘Walking is a Waste of Time!’, we held a series of mock press conferences outside the Forum in Norwich city centre. Click here to see full action report, photos and the spoof C.R.A.P leaflet (along with our own straight leaflet setting out our concerns about the NDR).

**Publish date modified due to system failure**

We seem to have been preparing for it forever, but the G8 is finally upon us. My London life is sorted enough to leave behind for 10 days - I hope - and now it's time to pull together whatever courage and creativity I have. After all, this psychotic system needs to be dismantled and the seeds of new ones need to be nurtured, and fast. That's what I try to tell myself when the doubts and fears drop by for a chat every now and then.
