Green Kite Midnight, NPG, June '09

New band Green Kite Midnight spent the early part of Tuesday evening serenading those
attending the BP Portrait ceremony with a series of tunes inspired in part
by visions of BP decommissioned. NPG employees were very helpful, (though
they were outnumbered by BP and BP-funded security men), and we set up our
banner and instruments just beneath one of the 'supported by BP'
statements on one of the huge posters on either side of the door. (It
seems that some people thought we might have been invited by BP. Ah
well...)

Yellow and Red cards explaining the facts about dirty coal were handed out to staff leaving the headquarters and passing public.

Activists die in the National Portrait Gallery over association with BP(23-02-08)Hello.

Early this afternoon a group of people from Rising Tide went to the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square....and died. 7 corpses lay in the main corridor to the Portrait Award Exhibition. Maybe the died when the realised that BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery was not currently on. Nonetheless, BPs association with a national institution such as the Portrait Gallery is another example of greenwash.
