BP has dominated the Tate Members Annual General Meeting (AGM) for years and 2013 was no different. London Rising Tiders joined our friends of the Reclaim Shakespeare Company to support other activists inside the meeting on the steps of Tate Britain, a house of culture so tarred by the oily stench of BP patronage that several members had chosen to resign in protest (you can read a resignation statement here: http://newint.org/blog/2013/12/06/tate-art-oil-sponsorship ).  At the moment of their declaration, voices rose from the steps outside, singing and proclaiming desire to see the arts free from the taint of oil. Our hearty cries of "Art Not Oil!" - set to the tune of the sweet ballad "Hey Baby (Uh Ah)" from that talented er minstrel DJ Otzi - carried full into the meeting-room protest.
