REPORTS FROM THE RISING TIDE UK GATHERING
13/14 OCTOBER 2001
A weekend of inspiration, meeting people and sharing experiences
Report back: National campaign round-up & workshop summaries
Critique of Kyoto presentation
Report from carbon sinks workshop
Dismantling the oil industry workshop
Environmental Justice workshop
The impacts of lifestyle consumption workshop
The gathering hoped to bring together activists working on climate change from around the UK (and beyond) to generate a sense of community of people working on climate change issues. These reports give a brief reminder of what went on, together with contacts for people who gave the workshops and people for further information and resources.
Over the course of the weekend some 90 people came to the gathering - some staying the entire weekend, some for just one workshop, and many people remarked on the diversity of campaigns and opinions represented at a grassroots gathering.
THANKYOU to all who came to the gathering and put your energy, time and ideas into it, to people who gave workshops, who performed, who helped in the many ways which were needed, and a HUGE thankyou to the Manchester Environment Resource Centre at Bridge 5 Mill for letting us use their very inspiring venue for the gathering and for being such a huge support - if you want to find out more about their project, contact merci@gn.apc.org
