Party at the PumpsSaturday, 10 April 2010
Meet 1 PM at Oxford Circus

BP want to start extracting oil from the tar sands, the single most destructive project on earth - fuelling climate chaos and trampling the
rights of indigenous communities.

We want to stop them.

On Saturday, 10th April, hundreds of people from London and beyond will gather at the pumps to send a message to BP: “you’re not going into the
tar sands without a fight!”

Come to a mass action! Bring yourselves, your friends, whistles and drums if you have them, and a Zone 1-2 travel card. Meet at Oxford Circus and be ready to make a move to our final destination.

BP Fortnight of Shame

Take action to keep BP out of the tar sands – the single most destructive project on earth.

BP Design 1

The BP Fortnight of Shame is a call to action from the UK Tar Sands Network, Rising Tide and the Camp for Climate Action to force BP to reverse their crazy plans to move into Canada’s tar sands. It runs between the annual Fossil Fools day on April 1st, which in recent years has seen a flurry of action against the fossil fuels industry, and BP’s Annual General Meeting on April 15th. Grassroots groups across the UK and around the world, will be taking action in solidarity with First Nations communities in Canada to stop BP's deadly plans in their tracks.

The Great Climate Swoop, October 17-18 2009

Don't be confused - 2009 is just another year of climate talks, in which governments and corporations will continue business as usual and tell us how a load of corrupt (but profitable) trading is in fact a real attempt to save the world.

To solve climate change we're going to have to get together and make a real noise. CO2 levels are rising 20,000 times faster than at any point in life's astonishing billion year history and coal is the biggest source of emissions. If we burn all the coal in the ground we're toast. No butter, no jam, just toast. So stopping the burning of coal in the rapidly warming world is a good place to start.

Today saw not only mass protests in London ahead of the G20 summit, but local demonstrations in cities around the UK and across the globe. Under the banner of Fossil Fools Day, activists held protests at banks, energy companies and power stations across the UK, the USA and South Africa to highlight the twin economic and climate crises.

More action reports and photographs will be added here as they come in.

Copenhagen - A Call to Climate Action

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 09/22/2008 - 17:24

COP15The mobalisation meeting that happened in Copenhagen this weekend was very successful. 21 countries and 5 continents were represented as well as a very diverse mix of organizations, individuals, networks, and political perspectives. An international call out text was finalised and the debate regarding shutting down the negotiations or locking them in until we get a genuine solution - was begun. This will continue at the next international climate meeting (probably March of next year). What needs to happen now is this call out needs to spread around the world, so please cut, paste and email it to any lists you havn't seen it on yet.
