Greenwash Guerillas deal with greenwash spill... by visionontv

Last night at 6.07 PM the London brigade of the Greenwash Guerrillas got a call from a panicked pedestrian outside the National Portrait Gallery. It seemed that the prizegiving ceremony for BP Portrait Award was about to start, and toxic greenwash had begun to gush uncontrollably from the gallery’s front doors.

Why target Shell?

Party at the Pumps Part 2 is taking place just three days before Shell’s AGM, where the company will come under fire from shareholders over its plans in the Canadian tar sands; and a week before the Merthyr to Mayo solidarity bike ride, which will link two communities in Wales and Ireland resisting fossil fuel extraction.

Shutting down a petrol station for 5 hours on a sunny Saturday afternoon was so much fun we’re going to do it again. Shell’s Hell – in the tar sands and beyond - is next in the firing line.

We said we would stop them and we did.
150 people met in Oxford Circus, navigated their way to Shepherd's Bush and one of BP's busiest petrol stations was closed for over 3 hours.

Climate change is no laughing matter – but that doesn’t mean we can’t confront the Fossil Fuel Empire with subversive humour. Once again the Fossil Fool jokers were out in force celebrating the beginning of BP Tar Sans Fortnight of Shame, here's a round up of the actions that happened, let us know if you're isn't here.

London Rising Tide will be having their annual new people's film night on September 24th 2009 from 7.30pm at the London Action Resource Centre (LARC), 62 Fieldgate Street, London, E1 1ES Nearest tube - Whitechapel. The night will feature a couple of upbeat films to give an insight into the climate justice movement, followed by a short discussion and the chance to ask questions. Where we go next is up to all of us, so if this sounds like your cup of tea, do come along and get involved, there might even be cake!
