York Rising Tide are an independent group, part of the UK Rising Tide Network we are fighting the root causes of climate change

GenoratorX

York Rising Tide held a community day at a beautiful spot by the river in York with GenoratorX.

About 30 people came down for the day and others dropped by (including a local parish councillor looking for advice on sustainable projects), and there were many dog walkers and passing locals.

GeneratorX showed videos and provided leaflets and advise on sustainable power and climate campaigning. People bought food to share and for the kids there was windmill making and sustainably powered cartoons. A Yurt was bought by the York Environmental Community Centre and put up for the Weekend.

We had a campaigns meeting with some new faces and we agreed to meet soon to watch the new Riding Tide videos, plan another critical mass and explore other things we could do this year.

If you want to get involved please contact yorks@risingtide.org.uk

Critical Mass

We held a critical mass on Saturday the 2nd of Feb. 50 cyclists came along, and we have a lovely ride through the city. Much soggy fun was had by all. And cake.

We hoped to draw a direct link between climate chaos and the increasingly severe flooding in York. This message was helped by the timely flooding of the Ouse, a complete coincidence, the worst this winter.
