Warwickshire Rising Tide

Warwickshire Rising Tide is a member group of the Rising Tide coalition of climate change campaigners in the UK.

Climate change is accelerating  and we have already experienced record floods in Leamington in 1998. Last year saw record rainfall, floods nationally and icecap melting  internationally. Some 2 million UK homes and businesses are now at risk of flooding. According to the MOD, by 2025 two thirds of the world's population could be troubled by drought, desertification or flooding. Fuel Poverty is also an issue for us in Leamington Spa, as the domestic heating of a large stock of damp and poorly insulated rented accommodation add unnecessarily to carbon dioxide emissions locally.

Our  launch event will be at the Leamington Peace Festival on June 15/16, 2002 here in Leamington Spa, where we will be sharing solutions to some of these issues for example signing up for renewable energy generated electricity and advice on how insulate solid brick walls to reduce heating bills. Bring your ideals along and share them with us.....
