BP Fortnight of Shame
Action:Days of actionTake action to keep BP out of the tar sands – the single most destructive project on earth.
The BP Fortnight of Shame is a call to action from the UK Tar Sands Network, Rising Tide and the Camp for Climate Action to force BP to reverse their crazy plans to move into Canada’s tar sands. It runs between the annual Fossil Fools day on April 1st, which in recent years has seen a flurry of action against the fossil fuels industry, and BP’s Annual General Meeting on April 15th. Grassroots groups across the UK and around the world, will be taking action in solidarity with First Nations communities in Canada to stop BP's deadly plans in their tracks.

Action | Climate Change | video | Action:Days of action | Action:Other actions"You may well ask: 'why direct action? Isn't negotiation a better path?' You are quite right in calling for negotiation. Indeed, this is the very purpose of direct action. Non-violent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. It seeks to dramatize the issue that it can no longer be ignored"
Fossil and Financial Fools Day goes global

Today saw not only mass protests in London ahead of the G20 summit, but local demonstrations in cities around the UK and across the globe. Under the banner of Fossil Fools Day, activists held protests at banks, energy companies and power stations across the UK, the USA and South Africa to highlight the twin economic and climate crises.

National E.On F.Off Actions Round Up
Action:Days of action
Over the past 48 hours E.on has been targeted across the UK. If your action is not listed below, email E.on F.off (eon.foff@gmail.com) to let them know what happened where you were.
Overall, the 48 hours of action was a great first shot across the bows. E.On were rattled, local and national media took an interest, resources were gathered and are now ready to go, a new website is now up and running, a list of targets has been compiled and E.on know that if they try to build a new coal fired power station at Kingsnorth then they will face a barrage of direct action - both towards their daily operations and their supply chain. E.on be warned.
48 HOURS OF ACTION AGAINST E.ON AND NEW COAL
Action:Days of action
Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2008
The UK Government is calling for an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050, we are calling for 48 hours of action against E.ON and new coal NOW.
It's easy enough to set a target that's 42 years away, but we don’t stand a rapidly melting snowball's chance of achieving it if the government give the green light to new coal fired power stations (7 are in the planning stages, with E.ON’s new Kingsnorth being first up) and keep dishing out subsidies to new coal mines. Coal is the dirtiest fuel there is, so while the government continues with business-as-usual through the last 100 months we have to make a difference on climate change, we call for 48 hours of action against new coal – now!
Fossil Fools Day 2009
Action:Days of action
On April 1st, take aim at your local Fossil Fool!
We are living through both alarming and amazing times: financial systems are creaking, climate change is being felt around the world, and the peak in fossil fuels fast approaches. Cracks are widening daily throughout the fossil fuel empire, and change is coming whether we like it or not.
