Workshops already lined up include: Fossil fuel economy; dismantling the oil industry; current intergovernmental political negotiations; carbon trading and the principles of contraction and convergence; personal impacts and how to build local and national campaigns around these; environmental racism; international and national campaigning round up and planning, getting more involved with Rising Tide.

The Saturday is more information and update based, which is vital to lead into the Sunday, which will be focused on campaign planning.

Venue, travel, food˜. We will send practical details out by post and email before the gathering. If there are special food requirements, we need to know in advance, otherwise it‚ll be mainly vegan with some veggie options, provided by a local veggie café. The charge for the weekend food will be about £10, and we will be asking for a small donation from those who can afford it to help cover the costs of the weekend, venue, costs and materials . If anybody would like to help cover the costs by making a donation in advance it would be greatly appreciated.

WORLD CAR FREE DAY PROTESTS THIS WEEK- There are events happening for World Car Free Day in Manchester, Oxford and Bristol:

On Thursday September 20th there will be a Critical Mass Bike protest. In a highly visual, colourful and fun manner they'll be spreading the message that car use is a major contributor to climate change and also makes our cities dirtier and more dangerous places. We'll be there to remind motorists that there is an alternative.

Meet at Whitworth Park, next to the Whitworth Gallery, Oxford Road at 5pm. Bring a bike if you have one but pedestrians are welcome.

Friends Meeting House Mount Street, Manchester city centre, 20th September. 7pm for 7.30pm start: This event will allow people interested in taking action on climate change to become aware of the facts, to meet other activists from Manchester and to think about ideas for action. It will be similar to the format of the Rising Tide tour- so here‚s your chance to catch it again.

Oxford Rising Tide Group will celebrate World Car Free Day with a Critical Mass bicycle protest. We‚re gathering on our bikes at Thursday 20th September at 5pm, at The Plain (the large roundabout where Cowley Rd., Iffley Rd and St. Clements meet) and continue up through town, leafleting cars about climate change and the need to get out of our cars.

Bring your bike and bring a whistle or something to make noise, and bring any banners, props that you can carry on a bike.
