In May 2002, Newcaslte Rising Tide helped organise the fabulous Newcastle Community Green Festival, attended by several thousand people. Here's a taste of it:

The bands, soundsystems, lighting and beer pumps of the festival were powered by alternative energy sources: a model to follow. In this picture, leg-muscles are helping power the sounds of the Dub Dome.

Newcastle Rising Tide organised a children's parade through the city centre on the theme of climate change. Children dressed as jellyfish and banged drums to advertise the festival.

Sea creatures like Octopuses, Starfish and sharks were painted by local children and carried in a great wave through town. They represented the rising sea levels, and the sea creatures that will inherit our earth.
