Thoughts and Analysis from Cochabamba and Beyond

Climate Change

Bolivia 2

5 Rising Tide activists (from 3 continents) are currently in Cochabamba, Bolivia, at the 'World Conference on Climate Change and Mother Earth Rights' (19-22 April 2010).

Lots of comments have been made online regarding transport to the conference ... those from RT Ecuador took a 52hour bus journey and the rising tider from the UK travelled to South America by sail boat.

BP AGM: 'BP + Tar Sands = Climate Crime' Demo

Action

BP Shareholders Annual General Meeting, ExCel Conference Centre, London, Thu 15 Apr 10 – At the apex of the 'BP Fortnight of Shame', at the entrance to the BP AGM, climate chaos and human rights activists persuaded BP shareholders to vote for the FairPensions anti-Tar-Sands motion. Mobilised by the UK Tar Sands Network, Rising Tide and Climate Camp, we let BP shareholders know, in no uncertain terms, that BP + TAR SANDS = CLIMATE CRIME.

Fossil Fools Day 2010 UK / International Roundup

Action:Days of action

Climate change is no laughing matter – but that doesn’t mean we can’t confront the Fossil Fuel Empire with subversive humour. Once again the Fossil Fool jokers were out in force celebrating the beginning of BP Tar Sans Fortnight of Shame, here's a round up of the actions that happened, let us know if you're isn't here.

The FOSSIL FOOLS FARCE ... is here!

Action | Action:Confronting the fossil fuel economy | Action:Days of action

Playing to RBS foolery

Rising Tide-Plymouth & Art Not Oil-Plymouth took the Plymouth city centre streets to bring you the big “Fossil Fools Farce”, a street theatre to remind us there are facts and names behind the Climate drama. Citizens and cops, all they took leaflets and showed their interest...!

On "Fossil Fools Day", we brought you:

April 10th - PARTY AT THE PUMPS

Action:Days of action

Party at the Pumps

Saturday, 10 April 2010
Meet 1 PM at Oxford Circus

BP want to start extracting oil from the tar sands, the single most destructive project on earth - fuelling climate chaos and trampling the
rights of indigenous communities.

We want to stop them.

On Saturday, 10th April, hundreds of people from London and beyond will gather at the pumps to send a message to BP: “you’re not going into the
tar sands without a fight!”

Come to a mass action! Bring yourselves, your friends, whistles and drums if you have them, and a Zone 1-2 travel card. Meet at Oxford Circus and be ready to make a move to our final destination.
