Rising Tide join Hinkley Point anti-Nuclear blockaders

Anti-nuclear protesters declared the mass blockade at Hinkley Point on 3rd October as a victory over EDF Energy. The nine-hour blockade in Somerset attracted supporters from all over the UK including Rising Tiders from London, Bristol & Plymouth. Several people came from as far afield as France, Ireland, Germany and Belgium as numbers topped 250.

We joined a group of local campaigners in Bridgewater who blocked the Hinkley Point main gates for almost an hour this lunch-time as they demonstrated against the premature destruction of upto 435 acres of open land and wildlife habitats before major consents are approved for the two giant reactors proposed by EdF.

On November 21st London Rising Tide interrupted delegates at the Aviation Emissions Trading Summit, held at Selfridges Hotel, central London. They interrupted proceedings with an impromptu speech and presentation, of a box of atmosphere. Free shares for pre Emissions Trading Scheme atmosphere were also given out to each delegate at the conference.

Protesters from London Rising Tide were at the conference today to highlight the huge risk of accelerated climate change through flights.

Three activists from London Rising Tide today barricaded themselves inside
the London headquarters of the Carbon Neutral Company. The protest took

London Rising Tide have occupied the head office of the Carbon Neutral Company (formerly Future Forests) on the day they had been invited to appear before the All Party Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change, chaired by the Carbon Neutral Company.

Conference of Parties (COP9) Actions, 1-12 December 2003

Activists from Oxford and London Rising Tide went to the Conference of Parties (COP9) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Milan, Italy to protest against the privatisation of the atmosphere and the false solutions that are exacerbating human rights and environmental problems.
